Massive Open Online Course (MOOC): Hundreds of millions of people will have access to K-12 and higher education as a result of Massive Open Online Courses . However, accreditation, assessment, and attrition remain serious issues. There is definitely much interest in massive open online courses (MOOCs) and open educational resources (OER). People wanted to hear about open education and free distance learning. Not surprisingly, the success and potential of such massive open online courses has fostered a number of new ventures including Coursera, Udacity, and Udemy. MIT and Harvard recently formed a new partnership to offer such MOOC courses through edX. One of the focuses of MOOCs and Open Education Around the World is pedagogy or instructional strategies for teaching online though it also includes much information on emerging learning technologies.
